"The Second Confession" Reviewed by Anthony Boucher, September 11, 1949

"The surprise solution in question was indeed a brilliant and beautiful gimmick, but my recollection is that Ellery Queen invented it in 1933. It now appears obvious and strikes the reviewer as unfair, since this version is based on a flagrant withholding of evidence."

This year's Bouchercon World Mystery Convention, named for the late Anthony Boucher (William Anthony Parker White), well-known writer and critic from the New York Times, will be held September 15 through 18 in St. Louis, Missouri. The prestigious Anthony Awards are given annually with the winners selected by the attendees of Bouchercon.
